Thank you for the article Boris. It was Tweeterific!

I'd like to focus on a couple of points you made:

1. Provide value to your community - This is key. If you want to be successful on Twitter you have to work at it and deliver value more often than not. Too many people on Twitter are busy running around trying to follow people in hopes that they will follow them back, and adding no real value. The extremely popular "I'll follow you if you follow me" follower building strategy is one that I wish would go away to die.

2. Getting subscribers to pay attention - What is the point of having lots of followers if they don't see your tweets or care about them. To get people to pay attention, you have to build your reputation for delivering value and you have to try to tweet when your followers are on Twitter so that they see your Tweets (no small feat finding those times).

What is my Twitter Strategy?

Well, I have chosen to avoid the "I'll follow you if you follow me" path because I would rather have 1,000 followers that actually listen to what I have to say because I deliver something of value than 10,000 followers who ignore me and only follow me because I follow them. I would argue that delivering value is the only sustainable strategy - and for me it works because I like to share information and help organizations and individuals improve themselves.

I would love to hear what other strategies people are following.

Boris,

Great post! When executing the "push" strategy I really try to focus on creating a mix of types of tweets I'm putting out on Twitter. I don't always make it. I do like the value of retweeting and I do a lot of that. Also, I have been finding that following "chats" and conference coverage is really enhancing my experience, making it easier to connect with people who have something valuable to share that I need to hear.
